Michael Vick the Quarterback will soon be Michael Vick the convicted felon. With three fellow Gangsters telling the world that Vick executed dogs and bankrolled an Illegal gambling operation, the NFL star agreed yesterday to "accept full responsibility" and plead guilty to federal conspiracy charges. The maximum term is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, although federal sentencing guidelines likely would call for less. A government official, told The Associated Press that prosecutors will recommend a sentence of a year to 18 months.
Warrior feels that Michael Vick after serving his time and a years additional suspension from the NFL should be allowed to continue his provided he lives up to his sentence and is not involved in any other acts that bring disgrace to the NFL. These acts were heinous and without a doubt not in keeping with the NFL good conduct policy, but they should not constitute a lifetime ban from continuing his chosen profession.
Let us not allow this to divide this country on racial lines by hypocritically allowing wife beaters, drunks, and drug addicts to escape greater punnishment from the NFL commisioner while holding a once proud role model to higher standards.
Let the healing began but only after the wound is closed
